Tolling is new to Bay City, and we recognize this is a learning process for many. We remain committed to helping customers resolve their questions and concerns as quickly as possible.
Meanwhile, here are common questions and scenarios since invoicing started:
Q: WHY ARE CUSTOMERS WITH BC-PASS ACCOUNTS RECEIVING INVOICES WITH BALANCES OWED?
City of Bay City RESIDENTS with defaulted BC-PASS account:
- Unpaid tolls for valid Class 2 surcharges.
- Invalid or no payment method to cover Class 2 surcharges.
- No transponder or issue with existing transponder.
Non-Residents with defaulted BC-PASS account:
- Any unpaid tolls.
- Invalid or no payment method (or no available balance to pay for tolls).
OTHER TOP REASONS PEOPLE ARE RECEIVING INVOICES
- Crossed the bridge without setting up a BC-PASS to ensure paying lowest rate.
- Vehicle not listed on an active BC-PASS account.
Q: WHAT CAN CUSTOMERS DO TO AVOID GETTING UNEXPECTED CHARGES IN THE FUTURE?
We strongly encourage customers to:If you haven’t already, create a B-PASS online, in person, or by phone.
- Log into your account regularly to monitor your travel and account information.
- Keep your account updated with valid vehicle registration cards for each vehicle on the account.
- Routinely check your email spam or junk folders for account notifications.
- Make sure payment methods on file are not expired and work properly.
- Be sure your transponder is properly installed and detected by the toll system.
